Spirto Gentil (1997-2010)

The music series called Spirto Gentil was founded by Father Luigi Giussani in 1997 and was directed by him until 2005. Afterwards, Father Julián Carrón directed the series until 2010, when it closed. The idea of starting a new initiative in the field of record publishing arose from the need to have access to an “introduction to music” which wouldn’t leave behind the “extra dimension” of the artistic experience, that is, the unexpected surprise that can be called forth by listening to a piece of music that is imbued with the ultimate meaning of human existence. Attached to each CD there is a booklet in three languages (Italian, English, and Spanish) with an introduction by Luigi Giussani, a historical card about the composer, and a listening guide to the piece of music.

SONGBOOK

In CL singing is always proposed as a particularly meaningful gesture: it is an integral part of the Church’s life and prayer; when it is lived with authentic faith it is a “witness” for those who sing and for those who listen.

In 1989 Communion and Liberation’s official magazine, Litterae Communionis, starts to publish critical editions dedicated to the singing in the various periods of the liturgical year aiming at offering a useful tool for the singing within the communities. From those first editions, various Songbooks were born (Songs for Advent and Christmas, Songs for the Holy Week, Songs. Repertoire per Annum and Songs to Mary).
